Introduction to patient care (IPC)

This course aims to equip learners with the scientific and practical foundations for dealing with patients, by mastering skills of taking medical history and performing general clinical examination in a systematic and professional manner. The course focuses on developing effective medical communication skills, and how to collect accurate medical information, evaluate the patient's general condition and link it to the main complaint, which contributes to reaching a correct preliminary diagnosis and making sound clinical decisions. The course covers the basic steps of taking a medical history across its various components, in addition to the principles of general examination and evaluation of vital signs, with an emphasis on practical application and common errors that should be avoided in medical practice.
